We had an awesome 2011 with lots and lots of blessings. We are loving El Paso(especially in the winter) and have made lots of great friends.

Adam is working for Boston Scientific as an Account Manager for the Endoscopy division. He LOVES his job and has had lots of success in this area. This is his second year teaching early morning seminary and he really loves working with the high school kids. After years of begging him to run with me he has finally decided that he wants to run a marathon and has started training.

I have been busy with the kids and my photography business. I have been very blessed this year with my photography and have busy taking pictures of amazing high school seniors. I have also teamed up with some friends and started putting on workshops. We are doing four this year Las Vegas, Florida, Michigan and North Carolina. Between the family and photography I keep pretty busy.

Gage is 9 years old and in the 4th grade. This year Gage had his first year of tackle football. He loved it, but it was a little intense for me. He also plays the guitar, scouts and is on the student council. He loves to read and I never thought I would have to get mad at my kids because they wouldn't stop reading. He is the most social kid and is makes friends everywhere he goes.

Talon is 7 years old and in the 1st grade. Talon loves to play on the Xbox and would play on it all day long if I let him. Talon is our sports fanatic and thinks and talks about football and/or baseball all the time. Talon does flag football, baseball and swim lessons. He is super competitive child and is always challenging Gage.

Presley is 3 years old and started preschool this year. She is our little princess and is so much fun. She is sweet and spunky at the same time. Presley started dance this year. She loves to sing and walks around the house singing and dancing. She got a pink tricycle for her birthday this year and rides it in the house all day long.

I am so grateful for all of our many blessings. Sometimes I wonder why God chose me to give so many great and wonderful things to.

The end of June we went to Moab for a Schroeder family reunion. The kids have so much fun with all the cousins. This day the boys were river rafting and Presley and I were just hanging out at the lodge.

This little girl is the sweetest thing. She sings and sings and sings all day long. She sings in the stores (usually at the top of her lungs), she sings in her crib after we put her to bed, she sings during prayers, and she sings in church (at the wrong times). We just love her little voice and it makes all of us smile.

Pine Wood Derby/Science Project

We had a busy month in January. Adam....I mean Gage had the Pine Wood Derby and I......I mean Gage had the science fair. Not going to lie, I.....I mean Gage totally stressed over the science fair and Adam....I mean Gage spent every spare second working on his derby car.

Are you dying to hear if our....I mean Gage's hard work paid off? Lets put it this way I....I mean Gage took FIRST in the science fair and well Adam....I mean Gage didn't take first in the Pine Wood Derby. Don't feel bad he didn't take last either (but close). It is okay Adam....I mean Gage I am sure your derby car will be way better next year!

Wow! We had a lot of changes in 2010. The biggest change was our move to Texas. We were so sad to leave, but have LOVED living here. The schools are great, the people are nice and you can't beat the weather.

Gage started 3rd grade this year and is our little smarty pants. He LOVES to read and once he starts a good book he can't put it down. He is obsessed with "The Diary of a Wimpy Kid" and has read the series about a million times. He got baptized, wrestled, played soccer, swam, played flag football and started scouts this year.

Talon started all day kindergarten this year. He is doing really well and is becoming a great little reader. Talon learned to swim this year and loves swimming at all of his friends houses in the summer. Talon also is a great runner. He can run forever. When he gets a little older he is going to be my running buddy. Talon wrestled, played soccer, swam and did gymnastics.

Presley is our little diva. She is so much fun and really completes our little fam. She is all girl and loves me to do her hair, paint her finger and toenails, put on lip gloss and play in her little kitchen. She loves her daddy and can not get enough of him. Presley got potty trained this year, which is more an accomplishment for me than her!

Adam started a new job with Boston Scientific as a Territory Manager in the Endoscopy Division. He has learned so much and loves his job and the company. There is a ton of opportunity in his company and we are hoping to go foreign in the next few years. Adam is also the early morning (5:45am) seminary teacher. Adam really enjoys it...and well I am the sometimes-supportive-always-has-a-tired-husband wife.

I have been busy with the kids of course. I have also been busy trying to get my photography business up and going in a new state. I have met some great people while doing it. I still run a few days a week and love the weather at 5am in the morning in Texas. I just recently got called to the Young Women's and am super excited about that. I have met some great new friends and LOVE were we are living.

We have been so blessed in 2010. A lot of really good things have happened to our family this year. We are so excited for 2011 and what it has in store for us!

Disneyland

Our "vacation friends" that is what we call them. We always vacation with the Williams. We LOVE them! We decided this year to mix it up and let the kids come.

The first day we went to Venice Beach to people watch. The kids begged to go to the Freak Show and we caved. We intended to spend a few hours there, but ended up spending most of the day walking up and down the board walk at Venice Beach.

The second day we went to Disneyland. We had such a great time. It is so magical at Christmastime.

The last day we hung out on the beach. It was 86 degrees and perfect. We spent most of the day at the beach and then headed to the pier for dinner.

Thanksgiving

We spent Thanksgiving with our good friends the Moss Family, Wilson Family, friend Brett and the missionaries. The food was a-mazing and company was even better. Adam played in the Turkey Bowl that day and had a fight with the ground.

I suggested our Christmas card should be a picture of him with information on how to prevent domestic violence. We opted for a picture of just our kids.

Visit to Michigan

My cute friend Sara called me and convinced me I needed to come visit her in Michigan. Presley and I were headed to Michigan three weeks later. Sara is the only person I know that I can go on vacation with and lose weight. We would play all day and then Sara would drag me out for a run in the freezing cold at night. I think we did 11 miles in two days. I love this crazy girl!

I also got to go to lunch with some of my amazing running club friends. Miss them!

I got to see some more of my awesome Michigan friends, but I am a lame-o didn't take any pictures. It was so nice to go visit Michigan. It reminded me how much I miss it and how much I miss my sweet friends!

Girls Trip

Back in October I met two of my Michigan BFF's in Arizona for a girls trip. We ate and shopped and ate and shopped. Did I mention we ate and shopped? We had such a good time and I just love these girls!

Over the Thanksgiving break we headed to White Sands, NM. In the pictures the sand looks gray, but it's completely white. When we were driving in it felt like we were driving in snow. Of course the little kids (and big kid) had a blast!

Happy 6th birthday to Talon a couple weeks ago! Because his birthday is a few days before Halloween I tricked.....er.....I mean Talon didn't want a birthday party. He opted for a trip to Build-A-Bear to get a Star Wars Bear. He wanted Adam to make him a mummy birthday cake this year.

We just love this little boy more than words. He is always and forever my baby boy no matter how many birthdays he has!

We started of the Halloween weekend with the trunk-or-treat. I recently got called as the activity "Chair-Woman", so I was in charge. Our ward is huge....I mean HUGE. We had over 400 people show-up. Don't get me wrong I LOVE a good party, but wowza! The kids got sooo much candy that I am sure we will be paying our dentist house payment some time in the next few months.

On Saturday my favorite 8 year old got baptized. Like a good mom (who loves to take pictures) I got NO pictures. Nevertheless, the day was so special, just like this little boy. Gage is such an example to our family. He studies the scriptures almost every day and has such a strong testimony already. He is wise beyond his years and tries so hard to make us happy. We are so proud of him and the choice he made to be baptized.

Grandma Lou gives all the grandkids, when they turn 8, a chest to keep all their spiritual treasures in. Gage took this pretty serious.

Carlsbad, NM

A few weeks ago we took a little trip to Carlsbad, NM. Carlsbad has some of the oldest and most famous cave systems in the world. The caves were HUGE! The boys of course loved it. I couldn't help laugh at everything they said.

It's hot....really hot

What do you want to know about El Paso, TX? It is HOT! Most days either start or end in swimsuits. It has only been about 2 weeks, but I love it here. It kind of feels like we are on vacation. We have palm trees in our backyard, eat a bazillion popsicles a day, my kids are getting pretty brown and I am sunburned.

We are really close to Mexico. I mean CLOSE. When you are driving on the freeway on one side you see El Paso and on the other you see Mexico. It is really quite interesting and I have yet to talk Adam into letting me walk over to Mexico to take some pictures.

The kids are loving it here. They have made tons of friends, so really what else is there when you are a kid?

We made it to Texas

We made it to Texas. We finally got our stuff 11 days after we loaded it. We unloaded everything Tuesday morning at 1 am and I left to California for a wedding Thursday afternoon. It has been a crazy last couple of weeks.

I LOVE the house that Adam found and we are living in a great neighborhood with tons of kids. The boys already have tons of friends. It is very brown here, especially compared to Michigan this time of year. It reminds me of Delta (where I grew up) but much, much bigger. It took me a couple days to get used to. I was little overwhelmed at first, but nothing a Diet Coke and a trip to the mall didn't solve. I am super excited to embrace the culture here and meet some new people. It feels so weird to be in the west after 6 and half years. We miss our friends in Michigan terribly but are very happy to have our little family together again.

We are down to the countdown for our move, only a few more days until we move to Texas. We are excited to move, but very very sad to leave. I have to tell everyone not to look me in the eyes, because I cry like a baby. We absolutely love Michigan and all of the people here. When you don't live by family your friends become your family. I feel like I am leaving my family.

I FREAKIN LOVE Michigan. I love the people, I love where I live, I love how green it is, I love the seasons, I love the shopping (you know I had to throw that one in there). The other day the boys were in the backyard playing in the forest. Spring is so amazing in Michigan and it made me sad to think this was our last spring in Michigan. I had a moment. A tear was shed...well not really but that would make a better story, but I was sad.

My girlfriend and I wanted to check out some new places to take pictures. We loaded up all five of our kids and headed to the ghetto (all the good picture places are in the ghetto, its true).

The boys are less than willing to even LOOK at the camera. So I have to pay these little buggers a $1. It usually goes something like this:

Me: "Hey guys if you let me take your pictures I will pay you $1 and if you are really GOOD we will go get ice-cream."

Them: "OKAY"

It never goes as smoothly as I hope. They usually end up getting filthy dirty, climbing up the side of buildings, jumping off walls, running in the street or talking to strangers. Then I get ticked and say," NO ice-cream and you have to pay ME a $1." Then I call them bad names (in my head of course). One hour later and NOT one GOOD picture we load up in the car. I end up paying them $1 and taking them for ice-cream, out of guilt, and vow never to take pictures of them again.

What do I really know about Texas? Hmmmm.....lets see....its BIG? I guess we are about to find out. Adam just got a job in Texas. We will be moving in the next few months. It is bitter sweet. We are very excited for the great new opportunity, but very very sad to leave Michigan. We LOVE it so much here and after 6 and 1/2 years this has become our home. It brings tears to my eyes just thinking about leaving all the amazing friends that have become family.

On a positive note Adam has a brother that lives there and we are super excited to be closer to family. I am not going to lie and say I am also looking forward to the weather. What can I say I grew up in the dessert and I love it! All in all it will be a new adventure and we are so happy!

I have been totally channeling Martha Stewart lately (not the criminal Martha). I whipped out my sewing machine the other day. It has pretty much been in the box since the day I bought it. The last time I sewed it was in Mrs. Tolbert's Home Ec class in the 8th grade. We sewed shirts. I was so pumped about the shirt that I made until I realized the shirt I made was almost identical to the shirts the employees at McDonalds wore. That shirt went straight to our trunk-o-costumes (along with my GOLD Homecoming dress).

At last I decided to give this whole "homemaking thing-a-ma-jig" another attempt. I am pretty delighted with myself. I made this cute pillow for the nursery. YUP....I did. YA ME!

Isn't it interesting how we evolve as parents? With my first baby I was so eager to have him reach all the milestones. Pushing him to rollover, crawl and walk as soon as possible. Along with each milestone I was so overjoyed and excited, convinced he was a child prodigy. Now with my last I hinder these milestones, picking her up when she attempted to crawl and sitting her down when she tried to walk. **sigh** At last she walks at 14 months.

10 years ago today

Ten years ago today we were in a hospital saying good-bye before we could say hello to our perfect angel daughter Taylor. It seems like just yesterday. I thought I would die of a broken heart, but I am so glad I didn't. I am so grateful for all my blessings I have received in the ten years since. I am grateful for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and the knowledge and comfort it has given me. I will see my daughter again one day. I am so grateful for the love and support that I have in my life. Thank you for the phone calls today it meant more than you will ever know.

I finally got around to taking Talon's 5 year old pictures. Talon has the biggest sweet tooth ever (don't know WHERE he gets it from). I had to bribe him with Tootsie Rolls to take pictures. He informed me for every picture I take that is ONE Tootsie Roll. You would laugh at all the places I find candy wrappers...little stink! Nevertheless we LOVE this little guy.

The Gift

My little sister was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma almost 6 years ago. She had two rounds of chemotherapy and two rounds of radiation treatment followed with a stem cell transplant. One of the side effects was she would never be able to have children. It is such a horrible feeling to see someone you love so much go through such hard times and there is nothing you can do. There were several gifts given to my little sister when she was sick. The gift of a wig, when she lost her hair. The gift of a friend flying her to Wisconsin in his airplane, when she was not well enough to travel. The gift of generosity when her medical bills were paid for. The gift of selflessness with many hours spent next to her bedside when she was in the hospital. The list goes on and on. And now years later another gift from an truly amazing person miles and miles away, the gift of life.

I got to meet the birth mom when I was in Utah. Tears filled my eyes when I embraced her for the first time. Such an amazing person. Thank you, thank you for giving my little sister the greatest gift.

I was in Utah waiting for Jamie's baby to be born. We got a little bored and decided to see if our prom dresses still fit. My mom came home from work and they we were just chillin in our prom dresses. So there I am in my 1994 vintage prom dress!

The birth mom is labor right now and I hope to be a new aunt by the end of the day!

The boys started school this week. I wish I was one of those moms that is so sad when their kids go to school, but I am NOT! We had a great summer but I was...I er mean they were ready for school to start.

On a side note it has taken me a little getting used to. I only have Presley (and Adam) at home. My house is so quiet and CLEAN. It is so weird to just have one kid to tote around town.

Labor Day Camping

I have been a major blog slacker this month. I have been taking lots of pictures....of Presley. My confession is, "I feel guilty when I put a ga-million pictures of P on my blog and none of the boys." But let me explain why

While we were in Mexico my mom watched Little P. When we got back she had 3 new teefers!

We celebrated our 10 year anniversary's together with our good friends Dan and Karinne

We pretty much had ice cream everyday at least once.

One day we went deep sea fishing and snorkeling.

The girls showed the boys what was up and caught the 2 biggest fish.

We went to Hawaii a few years ago with the Williams and we loved snorkeling so we had to do it again in Mexico.

We saw the ruins, very cool.

We went swimming in a cenote (a natural sinkhole).

We had so much FUN with our awesome friends in Mexico. Every time I think of our trip it just makes me laugh so hard. Good Times! Good Times! We ate good and played hard.

The 4th of July in Delta

We went to Delta for the 4th of July. The day before we went to the "REZ" to do a little boating.

We started the day off at the parade were the boys got about 10lbs of candy. After, we went to the park were I got to see all my friends from high school. Then we finished the day with the Demolition Derby and fireworks. Delta is the best for the 4th of July and it was so fun to see all my friends and family.

Parade

Our township had a Liberty Fest. We went to the parade in the morning. The kids got a ton of candy. I told the boys they had to throw away all the candy that was bad for their teeth. Gage decided he would just sell his to the neighbors. He came home with $1.25. Funny little boy!

NOOOOOO! I know most mothers get so excited when their babies hit milestones, well not this mother. I want my baby to be a baby FOREVER! Presley just started sitting up on her own and I am not happy about it! Arrrgh.

I absolutely LOVE Michigan this time of year. There is so many beautiful places. There are walls of green trees down every road, bands playing in the parks, farmers markets on every corner, quaint little shops and hopping ice cream parlors. I feel like I need to do and see something everyday because I don't want to miss a second of it.

My baby turned 6 months a few weeks ago. I am just over the moon for the little girl. She weighed 16 lbs and 27 inches long. She is such a happy baby and instantly starts to giggle when she sees her crazy brothers.

Gage got a "Writing Award" at school last week. We are so proud of him. When he came home from school he told us that he had the best day EVER. First, he got to be the leader in his class (pretty big deal when you are in the 1st grade). He then told us he was so lucky because he got a writing award and he isn't even a good writer.

Gage has been into wearing real neck ties (as opposed to the zip up ones) these days. The other day he wanted to wear a tie to school with his jeans. He got dressed and I helped him with his tie. He tucked his shirt into his jeans. I told him I liked it better untucked. He insisted on tucking it in. A few minutes later he came into the bathroom and said, "Mom how about I wear it untucked next time"? I told him I didn't care what he did he was the one wearing it. I just liked it better untucked. Then he looked up at me with those big brown eyes and said, "Mom I just want to make you HAPPY"! Oh how I love my sweet boy.

Let me just start by saying that I am probably not going to be up for mother of the year. Talon got glasses last year and REFUSED to wear them. After a month of trying to make him wear them I finally folded. I know, I know I suck! We went to the eye doctor again and SURPRISE...he still can't see! We got a new prescription and so far so good. He wears them all the time now. He informed me that he is a scientist now! I think he looks so sweet.

The boys have been on Spring Break all week. Today was such a beautiful day that we decided to go downtown with some friends and look around all the little shops. We ended the day with a stop at the Ice Cream Parlor, where I tried really, really hard to talk the boys out of getting Superman Ice Cream (the red, white and blue ice cream that stains everything). No luck!

So I am really embarrassed to admit this....I entered Presley in a Cutest Baby in Detroit Contest for a radio station. Adam told me about it and then a few days later at P's 4 month appointment my pediatrician told me I should enter her in it. I was coerced!!! Of course I think she is the cutest baby, but I am the "baby momma". The winner gets $1000 at BuyBuy Baby. So go here and vote for Presley S so I can get that super nice, super expensive stroller that I can't justify buying.
