Mosaic Gala

Mary Lou (mother-in-law), Jamie, Mona (sister-in-law), me
These are some of the amazing woman that sat at our table. They were attorneys from Arab countries living in the US for 6 months with a program called AMIDEAST.

This week Jamie and I went to Washington DC to help my sister-in-law, Mona, with a gala honoring inspiring woman. Mona works for the Mosaic Foundation. Mosaic Foundation is an organization dedicated to improving the lives of women and children, and increasing understanding about the people of the Arab world. There was nearly 800 people there including Ambassadors, Royal Families, Secretaries of the US government and many other inspiring people.

LENT?!?

I am giving up chocolate and caffiene for LENT. I know that sounds a little odd being that I am LDS. I have this amazingly supportive friend named Sara. She is such a great friend and has my back on EVERYTHING! So when she decided to give up chocolate and caffiene for Lent and wanted some support, how could I say NO? I told Adam what I was doing and he said, "You know LENT is 40 days don't you?" Today is DAY 2 and I will be honest it has been a little rough. I have been snapping at my kids all day and when Adam got home today I mumbled under my breathe...I am not even CATHOLIC! I better get an Easter basket full of chocolate!

Holiday M&M's

Why do you taunt me? Why are you at every end cap in Target? Why are you a new color every time I turn around? Why are so pretty? Why are you always on sale? Why do I eat a whole bag in 2 days? Why do you look so good in my car, in my cupboard, in my purse? Why can I not walk away?
WHY? WHY? WHY?
I am such a sucker for Holiday M&M's!

Great read

My TC friend Lindsay sent me this book! (Thanks Lindsay) I have heard great things about it and wanted to read it. I love a good self-help book and LOVED this book. I am now a self proclaimed relationship counselor and am constantly telling friends, family and complete stranger what their love language is. Have you read this book? What is your love language?

Til we meet again...

You must try and imagine a humid summer in Michigan. Let me help! There are days the humidity is so thick that when you walk outside you feel as if you are in a wet t-shirt contest. It gets pretty icky. So here is the predicament...FRIZZY HAIR! A few years back I met CHI, my flat iron. CHI was not cheap by any means, but worth every penny. It was love at first style! The bad news is we had a mishap. I dropped my CHI (more than once). The plates kept falling off and I had to super glue them on. Not a good idea! I have had some major breakage because of it. So today I had to part with my CHI. I sent CHI to Washington to get repaired. It could take up to a week and a half to get it back ( a week and a half too long). So if you are planning a trip to see me, get with my people because I am totally booked and am not seeing anyone.

What is wrong with my SHOES?!?

Posted by Picasa
My sister, the fashion diva (her true calling in life), teases me that I have more American Eagle Graphic Tee's than anyone she knows. I like to call them mom shirts! Motherhood has definitely made me conform to comfort. I mean I can't be showing crack every time I bend over to help my kids or chasing boys in the street in heels. Also along with all my graphic tee's I have quite the collection of flip-flops (the greatest invention ever). Recently I bought this totally cute shirt, but have not had the chance to wear it. I thought this nice springy day would be the perfect time for its debut. The shirt is so cute, flip-flops would surely not be worthy. I found it only appropriate that I pulled out the black pantin leather stiletto pumps.
Today as I was dropping Gage off at preschool I got several comments from other moms on my shoes.
Aren't you a little overdressed for Preschool?
Don't those shoes kill your feet?
How can you wear those shoes?
Why are you all dressed up?
I mean it was not like I had a prom dress on. So what is the moral to this story?
