My babies' DADDY!

Adam had a soccer game on Friday night.  The game was almost over and he collided with a player from the other team.  He got elbowed in the ribs.  He kept playing and about 5 minutes later he collapsed.  He was in a ton of pain and couldn't breathe.  He thought he had broken some ribs.  We loaded up the kids and raced to the ER.  I had never seen Adam in that much pain and he couldn't breathe.  I was really, really scared.  We got to the ER and they took x-rays they couldn't see an broken ribs but his LUNG had COLLAPSED.  Some of our good friends came and took the boys.  A couple of our other friends came to the hospital and gave Adam a blessing.  The doctor had to operate. They cut a hole in Adam's chest and inserted a chest tube to inflate his lung.  They couldn't anesthetize so he was awake for the whole thing.  It was really painful for him.  He could hear the cracking and popping of the muscles and cartilage as they pushed the tube into his lung.  He was then admitted into the hospital.  It was a long night and Adam was in a lot of pain.  He is home now and resting.  We are so, so grateful that he is home with his us now.  Thank you so much for all the prayers and phone calls.  We are so thankful for our friends and family.

The whole time I was reading this I was thinging...she's making this up...oh, I hope she is making this up...but the details, the details, they are too good to be a made up story...HOLY CRAP she's not making this up!!!!!

Perhaps Adam thought he wasn't getting enough attention. That "six weeks" thing is tough for some guys! wink wink

But seriously - HOW SCARY!!! I hope he learned his lesson not to play soccer. It's the devils game!

But really - I hope he has a quick recovery! I'm hoping for a Schroeder Christmas miracle! If you need me, Natty Nanny 911 can be there for you!

We are glad Adam is okay. Sometimes something like that puts the holidays in perspective...at least for me. Merry Christmas.

Holy cow! I cannot believe that happened! So scary! I have to admit that I do love these ER stories since I miss working there a ton! I used to assist the doctors while they performed those procedures. Crazy times! I'm glad he's home and recovering well! Call if you need me!
