Pine Wood Derby/Science Project

We had a busy month in January. Adam....I mean Gage had the Pine Wood Derby and I......I mean Gage had the science fair. Not going to lie, I.....I mean Gage totally stressed over the science fair and Adam....I mean Gage spent every spare second working on his derby car.

Are you dying to hear if our....I mean Gage's hard work paid off? Lets put it this way I....I mean Gage took FIRST in the science fair and well Adam....I mean Gage didn't take first in the Pine Wood Derby. Don't feel bad he didn't take last either (but close). It is okay Adam....I mean Gage I am sure your derby car will be way better next year!

Smartie Pants

Gage got a "Writing Award" at school last week.  We are so proud of him.  When he came home from school he told us that he had the best day EVER.  First, he got to be the leader in his class (pretty big deal when you are in the 1st grade).  He then told us he was so lucky because he got a writing award and he isn't even a good writer.

Gage makes me happy!

Gage has been into wearing real neck ties (as opposed to the zip up ones) these days.  The other day he wanted to wear a tie to school with his jeans.  He got dressed and I helped him with his tie.  He tucked his shirt into his jeans.  I told him I liked it better untucked.  He insisted on tucking it in.  A few minutes later he came into the bathroom and said, "Mom how about I wear it untucked next time"?  I told him I didn't care what he did he was the one wearing it.  I just liked it better untucked.  Then he looked up at me with those big brown eyes and said, "Mom I just want to make you HAPPY"!  Oh how I love my sweet boy.

Inquiring Minds

The other morning Gage and Adam are in the bathroom getting ready for the day.  I overhear Gage say to Adam, " So dad...why will man not be punished for Adam's transgressions?"  Gage cracks us up.  He remembers everything he hears.  He really keeps us on our toes.  We LOVE our little man.

So PROUD

I got a phone call from Gage's school the other day.  I initially thought, oh no what happened now?  It was a message saying that Gage was receiving an award at the Award Assembly.  Gage didn't know he was getting an award.

Gage received the "Shining Star Award".  The award is for excelling in academics.  We are so PROUD of Gage!

Replaced by the Wii

The boys are loving their new little sister!  Gage has to give an oral report in school and wanted to give it about the day Presley was born.  My mom came for Thanksgiving and gave the boys a Wii.  Now Gage wants to give his oral presentation on the day he got his Wii!  Boys will be BOYS...I guess?

I love this BOY!

The other day Gage said to me, "I wish I was married to you and we had a son named Adam, then I could boss him around all day and drink all the Mountain Dew I wanted."

What the...

Gage is our picky eater.  Tonight for dinner I made chicken pot pie.  Who doesn't like chicken pot pie?  Gage that's who!  He informed me tonight that he will not eat dinner because he is a vegetarian now!

First Day of First Grade

Gage started first grade today.  He asked me how long he would be at school?  I told him 7 hours.  He was pretty concerned about me because I wouldn't be able to hug him for 7 hours. It was rough, but I survived!

Turtle Cove

We met some friends at the new water park, Turtle Cove, by our house.  Gage was a little bummed out that he couldn't go down the big water slides because he wasn't 48 inches.  The boy has no FEAR.  The boys had a blast!

Teaching My Boys

(Gage telling me to only take 5 more pictures)

People are constantly giving me a hard time about my impeccable sense of style when it come to the boys. Just to name a few Talon's faux-hawk, Gage's mo-hawk (a personal favorite) and their numerous PINK shirts. As of recently, I have had to teach Gage a lesson in fashion when it come to defending his ever so stylish 6 year old look. The lesson being:

REAL MEN WEAR PINK!

So if you see my little stud sporting a pink shirt be fore warned.

Tulips

I am obsessed with my tulips right now...and of course this cute little boy too!
The other morning Gage got up at the crack of dawn. He came into our room and wanted to visit. I told him to go downstairs and get himself some breakfast and I would be down in a minute. A few minutes later Adam and I hear dishes banging around. We get up and go downstairs. Gage had made everyone breakfast. He had poured everyone a bowl of cereal and made me chocolate milk. He even cleaned my favorite cup that I use. He is such a sweet, thoughtful little boy!

Bikes

As a child one of my fondest memories is of myself, my little sister and my best friend Gayle riding bikes. We would ride our pink Huffy's with the banana seats for hours. I grew up out in the country and we would ride for miles on the country roads. It is so much fun to watch the boys ride their bikes and see how much joy something as simple as a bike ride brings them.

My Buddy

My boys are the funnest boys (my alternative wording for wild and out of control). Seriously though they might be wild but there is never a dull moment at our house. They are such good boys and the best of friends. I never imagined having two boys would be such a blast!

Wrestling

If you know my husband, you know it would only be a short time before the boys would be wrestling. Gage has been on a wrestling team and he loves it. We get a laugh out of Gage. He loves wrestling, but doesn't yet understand the concept of intensity. Sometimes when he is getting pinned he starts giggling. He is so much fun! We love him!

Fireballs

Gage is playing on an indoor soccer team called the Fireballs right now. They play at an indoor arena near our house. Right when you walk in there are about a million candy/junk machines. You know what I am talking about every mothers nightmare and every childs greatest joy! Everytime we would go to a soccer game the kids immediately started asking for quarters. Gage asked Adam for a quarter and Adam told him if he scored a goal he would give him a quarter. So now everytime Gage scores a goal he looks over at Adam and I and holds up his fingers and tells us how many quarters we owe him. Gage gets more excited about the quarters than the actual goals he scores. It is a little embarrassing because the other parents probably think we are obsessed with our son scoring goals but whatever works, right?
